DUI arrest made after crash injures Hilmar man

Two men were injured and one of them was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after their cars collided near Coarsegold, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened Tuesday at 6:26 p.m. Jonathan Olmedo, 32, of Coarsegold was driving a 2005 Honda Civic east on Road 415 east of Gold Creek Road, entering into a gradual right curve.

At the same time, Keith Dion, 26, of Hilmar was driving a 2005 Ford Focus westbound on Road 415, approaching the same location. Olmedo allowed the Honda to drift to the left, cross the double yellow lines and collide with the Ford.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and both drivers were pinned inside their vehicles.

Emergency workers extricated them and took them by helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. Olmedo later was arrested on a felony DUI charge.
