Current annual salary of Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the tax-exempt 501(c)(4) National Rifle Association, is $895,897. This money comes, in large part, from people who subscribe to LaPierre's drum-beat warning: Never mind the military assault weapon you don't own, the government's real aim is to confiscate the deer rifle you inherited from your grandfather and the home-defense pistol you gave to your wife as a Valentine's present.
Obviously, the more folks that LaPierre can stir up with the NRA's frightful vision of an "unarmed" America at the mercy of evil public and private forces, the more NRA membership — and, consequently, revenue — will increase.
LaPierre's good work will no doubt convince him to give himself a raise, say $104,103 to make it an even million.
