High School Wrestler of the Week: Gabe Balderas

CERES -- Gabe Balderas (31-2), a two-time State Meet qualifier, is carrying major momentum during his senior season.

Last weekend, the Ceres High scenior he went 5-0 to win the 115-pound title at the Tim Brown Memorial — featuring about 800 wrestlers — at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Balderas, ranked thirrd in the Sac-Joaquin Section, pinned No. 7-ranked Manny Griego of Will C. Wood in the semifinals.

More active and better on his feet this year, last year's Masters finalist figures to make another deep run into the postseason.
