I voted for John McCain in 2008 because I knew nothing about Barack Obama other than he had a nice smile and made sense. At the time I didn't know most of what he said was lies and half-truths.

I wanted him to be a good president, so I thought I would give him a chance.

The first thing he did was approve a huge stimulus when we were already up to our eyeballs in debt. We should have been trying to lower our debt. Then he approved Obamacare with backroom deals and giveaways to get the necessary votes.

Columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr. criticized Obama for fooling the Latino population with lies and half-truths (Jan. 7). If it weren't for the Latino and black vote, Obama would never have been re-elected. It's too late to change the election of 2012, but maybe the Latino population is seeing who Obama really is.

Everything the president has done has bankrupted our country. My hope for the future is to weather the storm of the next four years so we can make a change in 2016 if it isn't too late.
