Regarding "Americans seeing 'significant' pay loss" (Jan. 14, Page A-1): I was surprised and a bit taken aback by Matt Anhaiser's claim of "losing" $283 a month from the 2 percent tax increase. It would take a combined income of $14,150 per month for a 2 percent tax to generate $283.
With an income like that, we could save $3,000 to $4,000 a month, cut nothing out of our budget and not be concerned about the extra tax because it would be returned in the future as a Social Security benefit.
