Pastor a victim of intolerance

Pastor and Passion Conferences founder Louie Giglio will no longer be giving the prayer for President Barack Obama's inauguration. This is sad.

Louie has become a passionate leader in the fight against human trafficking. He does not preach intolerance or hate. His message is about the love and greatness of God.

What he did do, though, was preach a sermon back in the '90s that talked about God's design for our sexuality. It articulated standard biblical ethics on this subject.

Real intolerance can be seen in the Presidential Inaugural Committee saying that Louie would not have been invited in the first place if it had been known that he had preached a message in which he called homosexuality a sin. The message that this sends is that people with deeply held convictions that differ from your own are simply not welcome in the public square.

I imagine that Louie withdrew because he wanted God's fame to be the focus of his prayer, not all of this controversy that troublemakers have stirred up.
