-- Modesto Junior College slotback Brian Alvarez, who set school records for single-game receiving yards, single-season and career receptions, was named the Pirates' MVP on offense.

Alvarez, from Livingston, highlighted the team's postseason awards dinner last week.

Linebacker Kurtis Sewell was defensive MVP for the team, which posted a 4-6 record in 2012.
