DUI checkpoint tonight in Modesto

January 17, 2013

— Police will be looking for drunken drivers at a sobriety checkpoint tonight at an undisclosed location in Modesto.

Officers also will be looking for drivers without valid licenses at the checkpoint, according to Modesto police.

Saturday night, the department will deploy roving saturation patrols throughout the city.

The patrols are made up of officers assigned to solely look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police said those arrested face jail time, loss of their licenses and increasing insurance rates.

The checkpoint and the patrols are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
