The closing of the Curry Village ice rink in Yosemite is a good example of the degrading effect of overpopulation.
When I was growing up in Yosemite (and U.S. population was less than half of what it is today), the Curry ice rink annually hosted the Pacific Coast Figure Skating championship. The rink also hosted the annual Hoover Cup, an intercollegiate ice hockey tournament.
It's also bizarre that we will have to get a reservation to go climb a mountain.
