The Modesto City Schools board likely will hear some passionate arguments tonight on two topics high school attendance boundary changes and the pending dismissal of several principals. The boundary issues would involve four of the district's seven comprehensive high schools. That item is an agenda item for discussion.
The dismissals are a personnel matter and the board likely will be in listen-only mode. Also on the agenda: hiring an architect to design a swimming pool for Enochs High School.
The board's open session begins at 6 p.m. at 425 Locust Ave. It's hard to imagine what time the meeting will end.
If high-speed rail is built and then eventually extends north to Modesto, the city is preparing plans for a downtown station. That will on the agenda of the Modesto council's Economic Development Committee at 5 p.m. today. Room 2005, Tenth Street Place.
The four members of the Riverbank City Council will try, again, to agree on a person to fill the council vacancy. Their meeting begins at noon today at 6707 Third St.
The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors holds its monthly night meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Basement, Tenth Street Place.
The Turlock Irrigation District board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, 333 E. Canal Drive.
Neither the Modesto City Council nor the Modesto Irrigation District board meets this week.
