Turlock has been fined $3,000 by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board for a waste-water violation.
The board says Turlock exceeded its chlorine effluent limit from December 2010 to August 2012.
Turlock discharges treated domestic, commercial and industrial waste water via a drain connected to the Turlock Irrigation District canal system, which is a tributary to the San Joaquin River. The violation occurred when too much chlorine was detected in water sent to the river.
