Man robbed of sweat shirt, cap in Modesto

January 10, 2013

— Modesto police arrested one of three men accused of beating a man and taking some of his clothes in downtown Modesto on Thursday.

At 8:52 a.m., officers responded to Burney Street and La Loma Avenue for a report of a man who said he'd been robbed, said Lt. Jeramy Young.

The victim said he'd been in a confrontation with three men who proceeded to punch him and knock him to the ground.

While he was on the ground, the men reached into the victim's pockets to steal money. When they found he had nothing in his pockets, they took the victim's sweat shirt and beanie cap, Young said.

Officers searched the area and found one of the three men, Jeffery Baxter, 27. He was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of robbery.
