If you remember the tale, it is maintained that Robin of Locksley, or Robert Locksley, was born near the forest of Loxley Chase in 1160, near Nottinghamshire, where it joined up with Sherwood Forest.

"Robin Hood," as the tale goes, took back from the government that which was unfairly taken and restored to the people what was rightfully theirs.

In the absence of a great leader (King Richard the Lionheart), an evil, incompetent, corrupt sheriff tried to take charge and ran the whole place into the ground.

Robin Hood, it was told, would rob the sheriff's men and return the wealth to the common folk from where it had come in the form of unfair taxes.

Kid yourself not, there is a new sheriff in town — but it is not Robin Hood!

"Those who don't know history are destined (doomed) to repeat it." — Edmund Burke
