SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY — A collaborative team of FBI personnel and technical experts continued site preparations Wednesday to facilitate excavation of an old well site in Linden, in San Joaquin County in connection with the "speed freak" killers investigation.
Excavations including digging and sifting were expected to begin soon.
At the close of operations Tuesday, test boring had indicated that the bottom of the well had yet to be reached despite the fact that a test bore had reached a depth of 75 feet, according to the FBI.
Examination of soil brought to the surface during the boring process and exploration with a camera inserted into the bore site revealed that only fill dirt had been reached; no refuse, remains or other materials were present and the hard pan bottom of the well had yet to be reached.
To determine the actual depth of the well, additional equipment was brought to the site.
