MERCED -- A 35-year-old Delhi man arrested on suspicion of killing his father appeared for the first time in Merced County Superior Court on Tuesday for a brief video conference hearing with judges and attorneys.
Jason Curtis Reed was arrested at a truck stop near Lodi last week on suspicion of shooting his father, 67-year-old J.D. Reed, to death.
Reed will be represented by Chief Deputy Public Defender Vincent Andrade. During Tuesday's hearing, Commissioner Jeanne Schechter postponed the defendant's arraignment on homicide charges until 8:30 a.m. Friday.
