Crews replace snapped utility pole in Modesto

MODESTO -- Modesto Irrigation District crews spend a foggy Monday morning replacing a utility pole, the top of which snapped off at 10:06 p.m.

Sunday when a car struck the pole along Briggsmore Avenue between Coffee Road and Rose Avenue. The pole is on the south bank of the MID’s main irrigation canal.

MID spokeswoman Melissa Williams said 2,186 customers were without power until 3:27 a.m. Monday.
