Modesto area senators' take committee spots

As the Legislature got down to work Monday, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg announced committee assignments. Here are the assignments for the three state senators from our area:

• Cathleen Galgiani, D-Stockton, will lead the Agriculture Committee and serve on the Business, Professions and Economic Development; Governmental Organization; and Transportation and Housing committees.

• Tom Berryhill, R-Modesto, will serve as vice chairman of two committees, Banking and Financial Institutions and Human Services, and will serve on Agriculture; Budget and Fiscal Review; and Governmental Organization.

• Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, will serve as vice chairman of the Natural Resources and Water Committee and will serve on the Agriculture; Energy, Utilities & Communications; Governmental Organization; and Transportation and Housing committees.
