-- The Stanislaus County Coroner’s office Monday identified the 24-year-old woman who died in an accident near Oakdale on Friday as Joy Mata of Sonora.

Mata died Thursday morning in a head-on collision at Orange Blossom and Horseshoe roads, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Mark Osterman, 40, of Riverbank suffered major injuries.

The CHP reported the collision at 6:36 a.m. at the intersection northeast of Oakdale.

Mata was driving north on Orange Blossom when her 1999 Honda veered into the southbound lanes of the road. Osterman was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Orange Blossom and saw the Honda, the CHP said.

He moved his truck to the right shoulder but could not avoid the car. Osterman was wearing a seat belt; Mata was not, authorities said.
