Car loses engine, radiator after crash in Modesto

Debbie Noda/dnoda@modbee.com Driver of this car rests on the curb Jan. 4, 2013. According to Modesto police the driver was driving westbound and was broadsided by a Lincoln Towncar. The engine of this car ended up about 50 yards away, also the tire, radiator and other car parts ended up away from the car. The East portion of Brighton was closed for about 45 minutes. The driver of the Lincoln was taken by ambulance.

— A vehicle traveling at high speed Friday lost some of its parts after it was struck by another car, leaving the vehicle's engine in a Modesto park and the radiator and a tire nearby.

Just before 3 p.m., a Saturn was heading west on Brighton Avenue near Downey Park when the driver lost control east of Kruger Drive and the car was broadsided by a Lincoln traveling east, according to Modesto police.

Despite major damage to the Saturn, only one person suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
