LODI -- The search for a 35-year-old man wanted in connection with the slaying of his father ended early Thursday afternoon at a truck stop near Lodi.
San Joaquin County sheriff's deputies and the Merced County Sheriff's STAR Team arrested Jason Curtis Reed at the truck stop off Interstate 5. He was being sought in connection with the death of his 67-year-old father, J.D. Reed.
The victim's body was found Tuesday in bed at his residence in the 9000 block of Sycamore Street in Delhi. He reportedly had blood coming from his mouth and appeared to have been shot in the upper body.
Sheriff Mark Pazin said detectives tracked Jason Reed to San Joaquin County using vehicle information and other details provided by the suspect's family. It's unclear why the suspect was at the truck stop.
Reed was arrested without incident.
Pazin said he appreciated the collaborative effort between San Joaquin sheriff's deputies and his department.
Detectives haven't elaborated on a motive in the case, and Pazin said the suspect had yet to be questioned.
Reed lived with his father, who was found dead about 8 a.m. Tuesday by a relative.
Detectives haven't disclosed the number of gunshot wounds the victim sustained. The weapon used in the slaying hasn't been found.
