Modesto: Love it or leave it

I would like to reply to "Why is Modesto so scary?" (Dec. 22, Letters). I was born and raised here and have been here my entire 69 years and find it is not at all scary. All cities have scary elements and Modesto is not any different than any other.

The writer appears to have trouble with the high-end cars she parks on the street. Why are these cars not in the driveway or garage? Do you think these things would not happen in San Jose?

Modesto has always had a criminal element like any other city. We had the good and bad but the ugly was added when 90 percent of Modesto's population moved here from the Bay Area and brought the ugly with them. Not only the good moved here but the ugly as well.

Remember, the road that brought you here will also take you back to San Jose on one of the days you go there for work. It is OK if you just stay there if you don't like it here.
