Info: The Sunday arts lecture features Rene Daveluy on "Dance and Degas." Daveluy, artistic director of the Central West Ballet, will talk about Degas' place in the Impressionist movement of the 1870s and 1880s. The focus will be on his famous depictions of dance and dancers, which make up more than half of his works. Central West Ballet also will perform a demonstration of French ballet technique and artistry related to Degas' time period. Free. Info: The Central Sierra Audubon Society is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students studying natural sciences. In addition to students at Columbia College, upper division and post-graduate students attending Humboldt State University and California State University, Sonoma, and UC Berkeley and Davis studying in the field of natural sciences will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who live in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties or who have attended Columbia College or Modesto Junior College.
