Auditions scheduled for Sierra Music Scholarship

Auditions for the Sierra Music Scholarship will be held Feb. 2 at St. James' Anglican Church in Sonora.

Scholarships are awarded in two age categories — 10-14 ($200) and 15-20 ($300) — and are open to students of classical instrumental and vocal music involved in private study. Recipients must be from Calaveras or Tuolumne counties.

Scholarship recipients will perform as part of the March 10 St. James Concert Series.

The scholarship fund, managed by Sonora Area Foundation, was established in 1998. To date, it has awarded $12,000 to 46 students.

Tax-deductible donations may be made to Sonora Area Foundation and marked for Sierra Scholarship Fund.
