Arming teachers is not the answer. I don't see how a teacher could be taught combat training. One simple and inexpensive way would have them wear an alert necklace (help, I've fallen and can't get up) that when activated, every alarm would go off in all rooms at the school and perhaps even lock room doors.
If you wish to arm someone, thoroughly and annually train groundskeepers, maintenance personnel, hall monitors but not teachers.
