Gun owners protect families

The National Rifle Association does not support criminal misuse of guns. Never has, never will.

We are all saddened by the events in Connecticut and wish those families never had to face such a tragedy. The fact this troubled young man used guns to commit this horrible crime should not prevent law-abiding citizens from being able to protect our families.

Law enforcement agencies were forced to upgrade their weapons in response to what criminals were using. Those who flaunt our laws will continue to do so. Are we, the law-abiding citizens, expected to not respond in kind when faced with these madmen? Are we to protect our families, our loved ones, with less sophisticated tools?

The Second Amendment does not give us the right to keep and bear arms. It merely spells it out.
