The Central Sierra Audubon Society is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students studying natural sciences.

The range of eligibility for the scholarship has been expanded. Previously, it was open only to graduating Columbia College students. Now upper-division and postgraduate students attending Humboldt State University, Sonoma State University or the University of California at Berkeley or Davis will be considered.

Preference will be given to applicants who live in Tuolumne or Calaveras counties or who have attended Columbia College or Modesto Junior College.

Scholarship applications are available on the Audubon Society website, www.centralsierraaudubon.org. Applicants must send completed applications to CSAS at P.O. Box 3047, Sonora, CA 95370 by Jan. 31.

Scholarship winners are eligible for a second-year scholarship of $1,000, but must reapply and will be considered along with other applicants.

For more information, call Pamela Blair at 209-533-1668 or Augusta Parrington at 209-928-3835.
