-- Police will look for drunken drivers tonight with saturation patrols throughout Modesto.

The roving patrols by the Police Department are made up of officers assigned solely to look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The patrols are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.

“This is a ‘zero tolerance’ crackdown, so drive sober or get pulled over,” said Sgt. Craig Breckenridge of the Modesto police Traffic Unit.

In a separate effort, the Avoid the 12 campaign will deploy roving saturation patrols tonight in Modesto and Ceres. The campaign includes all 12 law enforcement agencies in Stanislaus County.
