100 YEARS AGO: A new street flusher, purchased by the City Council from the Studebaker company, was put into operation for the first time. The flusher, hauled by a span of geldings, was "ideal" for cleaning the paved streets, according to Superintendent of Streets Sam Kinnear. — Karen Aiello
