San Jose State senior Jordan Serpa, 2009 graduate of Turlock High, will call the play-by-play of the Spartans' Military Bowl game today against Bowling Green for student radio station KSJS (90.5 FM). Serpa, who also attended Merced College, has broadcast several San Jose State football games this season. Serpa's call is available via online streaming on KSJS.org.
BIG MAN GETS BIG TEST IN COLUMBIA
The Central Catholic High Raiders, featuring 6-9 senior post player John Fenton, bring a 10-1record into their game today against Summer- ville in the first round of the Fuchs Memorial Holiday Classic at Columbia College. Also in the 8-team field is defending champion Sierra (6-3), which meets Atwater. Here is today's first-round schedule at Oak Pavilion: Escalon (7-5) vs. Beyer (6-6) at noon, Sierra vs. Atwater (9-5) at 1:30 p.m., Summerville (7-1) vs. Central Catholic at 3, and Sonora (4-6) vs. Merced (4-8) at 4:30. Columbia closes the first day against Siskiyous at 6. The Claim Jumpers will finish the tournament Saturday at 6 p.m. against Sacramento immediately after the high school title game.
