Wuzzz Up: Local students make regional honor band

Two area students have won a spot in a regional honor band.

Martin Acosta and Rachel Hawkes of Turlock High School were accepted into the All-Northern California Honor Band.

The regional honor band, which serves students north of Bakersfield to the Oregon border, is a highly competitive, audition-only ensemble.

Acosta, clarinet, and Hawkes, oboe, are excited by the opportunity to perform in the weekend event. The concert will take place at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Atherton Hall on the Delta College campus in Stockton. Admission is free.
