I moved to Modesto to help my sister some years ago. My sister's car was parked right by where we live. Her car was totaled by a hit-and-run driver. I gave her my truck and bought myself a newer SUV. Not long after, the truck was stolen.
Then not too long after that, someone threw a bicycle wheel that busted out my SUV's back window. With gas prices going up, I sold my SUV and got a cute little used convertible. What a big mistake. Three times someone tried to break into it. I can't seem to breathe deeply before something bad happens here. A few nights ago, someone decided to cut my convertible roof completely open, all the way through, just before the rain, of course.
Why is Modesto so bad? I need my car because I commute to San Jose once a week for work. I will be 62 soon. I'm supposed to be happy at this age, not scared.
