The Merced College women’s basketball team stormed back from an 11-point halftime deficit and an early dismissal of its coach, to take a lead on host San Joaquin Delta with seven minutes to play in the Delta Tournament title game.

The Lady Devils (6-6) just couldn't quite hang on.

The Mustangs took back the lead and buried their free throws down the stretch to pull out a 57-50 victory.

MC gave it a good effort despite head coach Allen Huddleston being ejected for two technicals just 12 minutes into the game.

Sonji Green led the Lady Devils with 14 points and Rogenee Russell chipped in 10.

Holy Names 81, UC Merced 75 (OT)

OAKLAND -- The Golden Bobcats (1-9) fought back from a 23-point second-half deficit and Shelby Howard forced overtime with a last-second 3-pointer in a loss to Holy Names.

Buhach Colony 62, Lodi 20

ATWATER -- The Thunder (9-4) took a commanding 29-4 lead into the half thanks to the performances of Jessica Silva (game-high 19 points) and Allison Williams (17).

Chowchilla 48, Sanger 40

MADERA -- Ammari Gaines' season-high 20 points helped Chowchilla (5-4) knock off Sanger in the Madera Shootout.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Golden Valley 58, Kimball 50

TRACY -- The Cougars (10-2) reached today's title game at the Tracy Tournament behind 18 points from Evan Stillahn and 14 from Josh Sykes.
