Ed Silva of Manteca took the title in the December Scratch 6-Gamer at Yosemite and earned a spot in the Tournament of Champions, on Dec. 30.

Silva topped the qualifiers with a plus-78 then went on to defeat second-place qualifier Gregory Thompson Jr. in the final match of the stepladder finals. He won $248, and a spot in the TOC. The Championships will feature six different oil patterns on six pairs and have over $650 added to its prize fund.

Angie Bosio was on the top of the women's prize list of the Christmas Celebration Tournament at McHenry. She scored an 886, followed by Jean Rodrigues at 863. Beth Sims rounded out the top three at 843.

Reigning champ Glenn Mount won his second tournament in a row with a 907 total. Claude Ham's 884 was good for second and included a no-tap 300. In third, was Pinky Martin at 880.

Judy Roberson, Gloria Chin and Virginia Higle won the Ladies No-Tap luncheon with a team total of 2,152. In second were Nancy Speltz, Roxanne Grubb and Debra Taliaferro (2,085), followed by Jackie Wilson, Sherry Kuharich and Fonda Jameson (2,017).

If you're looking for some family fun during the holidays, area bowling centers will be open. McHenry Bowl will be open regular hours every day except Christmas, when they open at noon. Yosemite Lanes will be open 24 hours every day.

The Junior-Adult Double Elimination Scholarship Tournament will be New Year's Day at Yosemite. Each team consists of one youth and one adult bowler, and features two divisions — scratch and handicap. Team maximum is 440, and will use a 90 percent handicap in the handicap portion. After three games of qualifying, the field cuts to the top eight per division followed by a double-elimination final round. The tournament rolls at 10 a.m. with check-in at 9 a.m.

The deadline for reservations for the Senior "New Year's Eve in Paris" tournament at McHenry is Christmas Eve.
