ELIAS FUNEZ — The Modesto Bee

I thank all those who supported me in my run for the Riverbank City Council. Everyone I spoke with was very positive and I was pleased to be a part of these workings of democracy.

Richard O'Brien's council seat now must be filled. I encourage citizens of Riverbank to express their views to the council on who should fill the seat. The council should choose the most cost-effective method of filling this seat while maintaining transparency and voter integrity.

These next four years are crucial to Riverbank's future and reputation. Citizens of Riverbank need to be involved in the selection of whoever fills this council seat by contacting the mayor and council members and expressing their views. Together we can improve Riverbank and make democracy work.
