Thirty brand-new bikes were donated for foster children in Riverbank on Saturday morning. A group of residents delivered the bicycles to O'Brien's Market in Riverbank. Central Valley Foster Care, in downtown Riverbank, will receive them and deliver them to foster children throughout the city. Central Valley Foster Care has been part of the Community Giving tree at O'Brien's Market for 15 years.
Arthur Harris donated several new bikes last year, and this year brought friends and family into his "A.R.T. Project," parlaying their generosity into 30 bikes. Next year, their goal is 100 new bikes for the needy children of the community.
The Community Giving tree at O'Brien's Market in Riverbank has been collecting gifts from customers. Names on the tree are of foster children, as well as "adoptable" grandparents from a local nursing home. O'Brien's also collects food for the Riverbank Cares program, which distributes food to Riverbank residents.
