Jamestown father could face charges in infant's death

JAMESTOWN -- Tuolumne County sheriff’s officials on Thursday said a 3-month-old infant has died and her father, who has been arrested on suspicion of physically abusing his daughter, could faces additional charges in her death.

Kevin Michael Boehmer, 26, of Jamestown was arrested Sunday at Sonora Regional Medical Center, where he’d taken the baby because she was having difficulty breathing.

Hospital staff noticed old bruises and injuries on the child’s neck and chest and reported them to sheriff’s officials.

The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland, where she died about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff’s officials said an autopsy has been scheduled, and the Tuolumne County district attorney’s office is considering amending Boehmer’s charges.
