Wayne Garber and son Will were on the team that won the Morgan Hill Big Swiss Tournament.

They joined Greg Thompson Jr., Kevin Harlin of the Bay Area and David Wodka of Las Vegas to make up the "Miss Ya, Tony" team that took home $4,000. Wayne paced the team with an 1,803 total, second highest score in the tourney. The team won seven of eight games, racking up 8,668 total pins. Eighteen teams were in the field loaded with pro bowlers and high-average amateurs.

Wayne figures he's bowled in over 20 of the tournaments, but this was Will's first. In 2002, Wayne was on the only local team to win the tournament title. Teammates included Scott Bartlow, Tim Miller, Jim Gordin and the late Willie Taylor.

Bruce Webb scored a nice 954 to top the men's list in the Yosemite 55 and Over No-Tap Tournament. Curtis Varvel scored an 885 to take second with Bob Blackwell (863) in third. Anja DeBoer topped the women's field at 876 followed by Lina Carlson (861) and Joann Rico (806).

Both winners of the McHenry No-Tap Tournament rolled 300s to help get them into the top spot. Gary Pattee topped the men's prize list at 889, including a no-tap perfecto. Karen French rolled an 884 to win the women's side.

Larry Bolles was second at 868, followed by Ken Thomas (863). In this tourney, Anja DeBoer settled for second (869) with Kathy Schilperoort next at 855. Manny Simas was out of the money but rolled the third no-tap 300 for the day.

The trio team of Sue Sarager, Sandy Pastorelli and Angie Bosio won the Ladies Trio Tournament at McHenry with a 2,467 team total. Bosio rolled a 258 game, Sarager a 220 and Pastorelli a 674 set. In second were Mary Eccleston, Olivia Clinton and DeBoer at 2,356.

This Sunday is the last chance for scratch bowlers to qualify for the year-end 6-Gamer Tournament of Champions at Yosemite. Tournament scoring begins at noon. The sweeper winner will join past TOC champions plus monthly winners to fill in the 24-bowler field. The TOC is Dec. 30 at Yosemite. Call Wayne at (209) 524-9161.

The PBA resumes on ESPN Sunday at 10 a.m. This week has the World Series of Bowling IV Finals and the WTBA Bayer Advanced Aspirin World Bowling Tour finals.

The California Bowling Writers are hosting the annual Phone Card for the Troops drive, which provides phone cards to those deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The cards will arrive in time for Valentine's Day, 2013. If you have someone serving who would like a card, or to make a donation, contact Dallas or Stacey at 571-2695.
