Focus on Education: Stanislaus County board to meet

The Stanislaus County Board of Education will meet at 8:30 a.m. today at the Stanislaus County Office of Education boardroom, 1100 H St. The board will consider an amended pact with Great Valley Academy charter school to improve teacher training and evaluation. Trustees will also vote on renaming the Livingston Child Development Center to honor retiring county office child development division leader Deborah Clipper. RIVERBANK TO MEET: The Riverbank Unified School District board will meet at 3:30 p.m. today for a workshop on improving test scores and at 5:30 for their regular meeting at the district boardroom, 6715 Seventh St., Riverbank. Trustees will discuss an updated budget report showing the district will need to pull $1.2 million from savings to finish the year and will need to cut an estimated $1 million for each of the next two years. HUGHSON TO MEET: The Hughson Unified School District board will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the district office, 6815 Hughson Ave., Hughson. TURLOCK TO MEET: The Turlock Unified School District board will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Professional Development Center, 1100 Cahill Ave., Turlock. Trustees will discuss a budget update showing the district in strong financial position with about 18 percent reserves for this year and the following two school years.
