MODESTO -- A Modesto teenager suffered minor injuries Monday morning when a car hit her as she walked to school.
The 13-year-old girl, a student at nearby Roosevelt Junior High School, was walking south in the crosswalk on College Avenue at about 8 a.m. when a man driving a sport utility vehicle was making a left turn from College onto eastbound Orangeburg Avenue, according to officer Jaime Cox of the Modesto Police Department.
The driver said his vision became obstructed, possibly by the glare of the morning sun, Cox said.
