-- Davis High School students had some good, sporting fun with a photography contest promoting milk and breakfast consumption.

They won a $250 gift card for placing second in the statewide contest, sponsored by the California Milk Processor Board.

The board, which created the Got Milk? advertising campaign, asked high school students to get creative themselves.

At Davis, seven members of Future Farmers of America posed with a milk pitcher, a cereal bowl and various athletic gear.

They are Devin Miller, Chris Calibro, Jessica Jenkins, Brandon Myers, Brittany Bess, David De La Cruz and Savannah Descovich.

Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, San Diego County, won the $1,000 first prize with a shot of football players in an offensive line formation, with milk and books displayed nearby. The photo will be on a billboard in that county for a month.

"Year after year, teens have not only shown their creativity by participating in this contest, but they have also continued to inspire," said Steve James, executive director of the board, in a news release.  "We love seeing their witty pictures and how a nutritious breakfast that starts with milk helps them improve their academic performance and overall health."

The board, based in San Clemente, also has a contest in which a district's high schools try to increase their on-campus breakfast consumption. Davis won last year; Gregori High School won this year.
