TURLOCK -- A Turlock police sergeant was hospitalized with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on Friday night, authorities said.
Anthony Silva was called to an area near South Berkeley Avenue at 6:31 p.m. on a report of a possible burglary in progress, according to spokeswoman Mayra Lewis of the Turlock Police Department.
Silva arrived at the scene and located two "subjects", Lewis said. As he waited for backup units, Silva was struck by a vehicle not involved in the suspected crime.
