Where: Regal Theater, parking lot, 3969 McHenry Ave.

• VETERANS BOOK SIGNING

Where: Veterans Center, 1219 Carpenter Road

Info: Modesto Vietnam veterans who detailed their war experiences in the book "A Conflict That Was a War" will be on hand to sign copies of the publication, which will be available to purchase. Proceeds go to the Veterans Center.

Where: American Tire Depot, 3120 McHenry Ave.

Info: This free Classic Car Show & Shine benefits the American Cancer Society. Event will feature raffle prizes and a donation spot for the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program benefiting local children. Student art selected to be in the Modesto arch time capsule will be showcased, and there will be reception/open house for all the students who entered the Home of "American Graffiti" poster contest. • BELL RINGING COMPETITION

Where: Vintage Faire Mall, main entrances, 3401 Dale Road

Info: The IBEW 1245 members of the Modesto Irrigation District have challenged the Modesto Kiwanis to see who can raise the most money for The Salvation Army over a two-day period during their annual Christmas bell ringing event. Red kettles will be stationed outside the entrances to Sears, JCPenney and Macy's. Donated coats also will be accepted for the Coats for Kids drive. For more, call Clifford at (209) 324-4411.

Tell us what their need is and why they can use an interior or exterior paint job, and Lancaster Painting will do the painting. The company's goal is to honor and assist local people who are doing good in the community and are under financial pressure. Selections will be announced in January and painting done in February.
