At their 5:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting in the basement chamber of Tenth Street Place, Modesto City Council members are expected to:

• Reschedule the hearing to redesignate about 18 acres for a shopping center to the council's Jan. 8 meeting. The shopping center is proposed for the southwest corner of Sylvan Avenue and Oakdale Road. The applicant is requesting that the hearing be rescheduled. The hearing already has been rescheduled a couple of times, and the project has proved controversial with nearby homeowners.

• Approve a resolution rejecting all quotes for the purchase of synthetic turf for Mary E. Grogan Community Park and authorizing staff to readvertise the project. The synthetic turf would be for three soccer fields.

• Approve a resolution allowing the police to submit an application for the Anti-Drug Abuse Program Grant from the Board of State and Community Corrections in the amount of $251,372 for the Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency. SDEA has received this grant for 21 years.
