FOCUS ON EDUCATION: Stanislaus district book fair

A fund-raiser for the Stanislaus Union School District will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 3501 McHenry Ave. The Education Foundation will receive a portion of sales when customers use Bookfair ID No. 10930790 at checkout, or with online sales Saturday through Monday, using the same number, at http://bn.com/bookfairs. Stanislaus Union school librarians each have made "wish lists" of book donations for their libraries. On Saturday, district teachers and principals will read storybooks at the store. There will be a scavenger hunt and an arts and crafts table for children.

SPELLING BEE:

The 16th annual San Joaquin County Spelling Bee Championship final rounds for grades four through six and seven through nine will be held at 3 p.m. today at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Wentworth Education Center, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton.
