Thank you for your coverage of our local sports hero, Colin Kaepernick. Through Newspapers In Education, I will share these articles with my sixth-grade students. Kaepernick is, by all accounts thus far, an excellent role model for children everywhere — especially here in the Central Valley. I, for one, will continue to stress that 4.0 plus GPA he earned.
When February rolls around, after the 49ers have won the Super Bowl, I hope that Mr. Kaepernick will consider visiting local middle and high schools to encourage young athletes to stay in school and to let them know that being smart and working hard on their studies is "cool," too.
