Learn how weather forecasting works

December 3, 2012

Did the weather get your attention over the weekend? Then it may be enough to prompt interest in this, a free presentation called "The Crystal Ball: How Weather Forecasts are Made," scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Modesto Junior College.

The program, for people 10 and older, is part of the series provided by Modesto Area Partners in Science.

Noah Hughes, an MJC meteorology professor, will speak in Forum 110 on the MJC East Campus, describing what it takes to produce a weather forecast and how seasonal weather outlooks are developed.

The campus has free parking Friday nights.

Modesto Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
