Recently, my great-granddaughter and I were celebrating her eighth birthday. We were going shopping after having breakfast at a local restaurant. As I was waiting to pay my tag after breakfast a man whom I did not know stepped forward and told the cashier he was paying my bill. I was speechless and I thought it was a case of mistaken identity. When I started to protest, the man's wife stepped forward and said, "No please, we want to do this." I thanked them profusely and she responded, "Maybe someday you can pay it forward."
Their act of kindness was especially meaningful because I had just lost a loved one. I was fortunate to have these people pass through my life. So thank you, beautiful people, and yes, I will definitely pay it forward.
