Numbers of note for storm help

local@modbee.comNovember 29, 2012

The storm system hitting the Modesto area has the National Weather Service predicting a 100 percent chance of showers today and an 80 percent chance of heavier rain tonight. Strong wind also is expected.

As rain saturates the ground, trees could uproot and fall. That, along with wind-blown branches, can cause power failures.

To report power failures in Modesto, call (209) 526-8222 or (888) 897-8222.

In the Turlock Irrigation District area, call (209) 883-8301.

For residents concerned about flooding, sandbags are available at corporation yards in Modesto and Turlock.

In Modesto, call (209) 342-2244.

In Turlock, sandbags are available at 901 S. Walnut Road through 4 p.m. today.

Stanislaus County residents can call (209) 525-4130 for sandbags.
