'A Christmas Carol'
Modesto Performing Arts, a community theater company for 45 years, presents Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." This is a traditional staging of the classic tale of the miser Ebeneezer Scrooge and the three ghosts who teach him to appreciate Christmas. The show stars Ray Newman as Scrooge and features a cast of 35. The production is recommended for age 8 and up.

'Tuna Christmas'
A comic holiday sequel to "Greater Tuna," a show about the colorful residents of Tuna, Texas. Rob and Joe Hypes play 24 characters in Tuna, where the Lion's Club is too literal and Patsy Cline never dies. The Hypes brothers previously performed the show at the Gallo Center for the Arts.

Modesto Celebration
The city of Modesto presents its annual Celebration of Lights on Saturday with a breakfast with Santa, Dickens Faire and lighted evening holiday parade. The parade theme this year is "Holidays in Whoville: A Tribute to Dr. Seuss." The Dickens Faire features crafts, costumed carolers and Victorian decorations.
WHEN: Saturday, 8-11:30 a.m.: Breakfast with Santa. 9 a.m.-3 p.m.: Dickens Faire and Modesto Certified Farmers Market. 5:30 p.m.: Holiday Parade

Carolfest
The California State University, Stanislaus School of the Arts and Department of Music are presenting their traditional holiday choral concert "Carolfest." The CSU Stanislaus choral ensembles will perform under the direction of Daniel R. Afonso Jr. The audience will be invited to join the choirs in singing traditional carols throughout the concert.

Holiday Pops
Two former Modestans who perform on Broadway will headline the Modesto Symphony Orchestra's annual Holiday Pops concert. Morgan James will soon perform in her fourth Broadway show, "Motown the Musical," and will release her debut solo CD on Epic Records, "Morgan James Live." Jeremy Stolle has been in "Phantom of the Opera" for five years. Also appearing at the show are the 150-voice Modesto Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the Expressions Children's Chorale and Santa Claus. The conductor is Ming Luke.

'Posada Navidena'
Compania Mazatlan Bellas Artes de Sacramento presents its annual Mexican Christmas production "Posada Navidena." The show features 20 dancers and 16 musicians and includes a traditional Christmas processional (posada), Mexican holiday songs (villancicos), a visit from the Three Wise Men, a festive piñata scene and mariachi finale.
