• What he did: The 6-1, 180-pounder is 3-for-3 in Sac-Joaquin Section D3 semifinals, following his team's 42-19 win over American Canyon. He completed 7 of 8 for 126 yards and a TD, ran eight times for 41 yards and caught a 20-yard TD from Austin Jones on a reverse pass. The Mustangs didn't let Thomas run much in the regular season, but he has been running out of the shotgun formation during the playoffs.

• What it means: Thomas and the Mustangs fell to Del Oro in the championship game the last two years, but a new foe awaits this week.

• What's next: No. 1 Oakdale (12-1) faces No. 2 Vista del Lago (12-1) Friday at 7:30 at Lincoln High in Stockton for the Division 3 title.
